We are all seriously impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic that has significantly altered how we teach, do administrative or production work or simply live our lives. Some of us have been told that our institutions will not support travel between now and the end of the fiscal year. Some of us are trying to transition to online teaching platforms. Some of us may be dealing with family members who have become ill.
The UFVA Board is committed to providing a safe, rich, and meaningful conference experience for all of you this July. After careful consideration and discussion with our hosting institution, we have decided that it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel our face to face conference at FSU. We are currently reviewing all submissions and the process is scheduled for completion by May 1st.
In the meantime, the UFVA Board is busily exploring the transformation of our face to face conference into a peer-reviewed virtual event that will provide the screening, sharing and networking opportunities of an in-person event (just without the hugs!) Just as in our classes, we see this as an opportunity for exploring another way for us to share our knowledge and creativity with each other.
We will do our best planning with input from all of you. We have created a 3-question survey that will hopefully help us do the best possible job in this difficult time. Please take a few minutes to answer the survey before April 8th. We hope to hear from all of you.
