The 2020 Dallas International Film Festival (April 16-23) presented by Capital One, is the largest film festival in North Texas. Since its inception in 2006, DIFF has established itself as an important stop on the international festival circuit, and attracts films and filmmakers for several reasons. We strategically schedule the festival during a time of the year that helps both studio and indie films best maximize their exposure to the marketplace, and our hospitality is second to none. We are pleased to offer festivalgoers the opportunity to see incredible films and meet filmmakers from all over the world. We are eager to connect thousands of people through film at DIFF 2020. The festival is looking to screen the worlds? best, Narrative, Documentary, Short, Student, Military, Environmental and Horror films. DIFF 2020 boasts new partnerships with 3 amazing organizations. Legendary horror zine, Fangoria will sponsor the 2020 midnight section; DIFF will partner with EARTHXFILM to present a slate of environmental films and The Veterans Institute for Film and Media(VIFM) will present a slate of military films supporting our troops.
In 2019, DIFF welcomed more than 140 filmmakers, screened more than 125 films from 36 countries and the festival screened several movies that were released nationwide later in the year including “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” “The Biggest Little Farm,” “Wild Rose,” “Her Smell,” “Non-Fiction” and “Brian Banks.” In addition to showcasing a diverse range of films, the festival boasts Q&A sessions with filmmakers, nightly red carpets films produced by area students and veterans, award presentations, live music performances each night and engaging activities. Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to meet filmmakers and actors from both major and independent films.
The 2020 Dallas International Festival Powered by Capital One will offer cash prizes and more this year. The Dallas County Historical Commission will present $1000 cash prize to the feature or short film that best showcases a particular point in history. Panavision Dallas returns to present a $30,000 camera package to the best Texas Film(films must be shot, cut, or about the lone star state). Capital One will present $500 Grand Jury Prize for the best animated short; and more to be announced later.
