Calling All Filmmakers! Advance Your Career in Hollywood by Entering the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge!
One-in-four Americans has a disability, making it today?s largest minority, yet far too often their important and varied stories go untold.
Now in its 7th year, the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge addresses this under-representation by giving filmmakers?with and without disabilities–the platform to collaborate and tell unique stories along with the opportunity to win amazing prizes including:
- Production Grants
- Dell Computers
- Sony Cameras
- One-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud
- One-year membership to Film Independent
- Meetings with entertainment industry executives and talent
This film challenge is a weekend-long filmmaking competition, open to all, taking place April 3-5. The only requirement is that every team must have at least one participant in front of or behind the camera with a disability. Teams have 55 hours to create and produce a short film (3-5 minutes in length) based on an assigned genre.
The entry deadline is March 31, 2020.
Special arrangements have been made for the films to be produced under the SAG-AFTRA short film agreement.
Mentors that winners will meet with include writer/director/producer duo Phil Lord and Chis Miller (Spiderman Into The Spider-verse, Lego Movie, 21 Jump Street) casting director Pam Dixon (Angels in the Outfield, City Slickers) and Tiffany Smith Anoa’i, EVP Entertainment Diversity, Inclusion & Communications, CBS Entertainment. Additional mentors TBA.
Film challenge judges include: Nicole Castro, Kat Coiro, Jenni Gold, Peter Farrelly, Kevin Jordan, Ken Kragen, Steven Martini, RJ Mitte, Mark Povinelli, Danny Woodburn, Kaitlyn Yang and Richard Propes.
Thanks to the widespread support from the entertainment industry, the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge and the films produced through the competition are changing public perception about inclusion and the way the world defines and views people with disabilities.
