A celebration of “things that go bump in the night” comes to Prairie View A&M University and the University Film and Video Association! On October 27 & 28, Prairie View A&M University’s KPVU-TV, with the University Film and Video Association HBCU Initiative, will present “Nightmares From Monkeypaw: A Virtual Symposium on the Works of Jordan Peele and Black Horror Cinema.” In honor of one of this era’s greatest storytellers, KPVU-TV and the UFVA-HBCU Initiative will bring in the Halloween weekend with scholarly presentations digging deep into projects such as “Get Out,” “Us,” “Candyman,” and “Nope.”

We invite scholars, researchers, writers, filmmakers, educators, and students to submit panel proposals, short films, research posters, fan art, and presentations. Let’s celebrate Mr. Peele and the works that keep us up at night! The submission survey: https://pvamu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0pR4cF6Mr7kPtlk

Please consider submitting a proposal and sharing the flyer with your network. The proposal submission deadline is September 30 by 11:59 pm CST. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact Terésa Dowell-Vest at tedowell-vest@pvamu.edu.
