In the Spotlight today is the 16th Annual NYC Downtown Short Film Festival (NYCDSFF), delivering exciting cinema with big impact for a fast-paced world. For sixteen years the NYCDSFF has been showcasing some of the best short films being produced in America and internationally. NYCDSFF screenings unfold in a charming and intimate turn-of-the-century theater in New York City’s trendy East Village, offering heavy doses of character, history, and comfort. One must never underestimate the power of screening a new film for a NYC audience.

NYCDSFF celebrates short-form artistry in a variety of exciting categories, including dramatic, comedic, documentary, Latino, animated, LGBT, and New York City-made films. There’s something for everyone at NYCDSFF, and an exceptional setting in which to enjoy it. NYCDSFF is a program of Duo Multicultural Arts Center, a non-profit designed to create, promote, and celebrate multicultural arts through theater, music, dance, art, and film.

In addition to its satisfying buffet of shorts, NYCDSFF offers lavish opening and closing night receptions, filmmaker Q&As with enthusiastic audiences, and increased industry visibility in one of the world’s most robust entertainment capitals. Informal meet-and-greet wine receptions allow gifted artists to mix and mingle with industry professionals who possess keen eyes for sharp talent. The result is a festival that truly honors the short-form artist and helps position him or her for other exciting opportunities behind the camera. There is nothing else that rivals getting together with a group of strangers in a darkened space to experience the magic of film making.
