Woods Hole Film Festival
Consistently a Top 100 Festival on Film Freeway, the Woods Hole Film Festival has been named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the “25 Coolest Festivals in the World” and one of the “50 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee”. The Festival provides a venue for emerging filmmakers to screen their work before sophisticated and appreciative audiences.
World renown as the epicenter of ocean science research, thousands of people flock to the area each summer to attend the Festival and help make the Woods Hole Film Festival a summertime highlight on Cape Cod. Many Festival alumni have gone on to be achieve the highest levels of professional success and they return each year with their most recent films and help create a great community for both filmmakers and attendees both during the Festival and for years to come.
In addition to screening over 150 works over the eight-day Festival, WHFF offers hands-on workshops and master classes by Filmmakers In Residence geared toward both veteran and first-time filmmakers. Experienced industry panelists speak on subjects that focus on useful and practical skills pertinent to an ambitious career in filmmaking. Parties with great music and other special events make the Festival experience one you will remember for a lifetime. Filmmakers may be offered a chance to participate in the year-round screenings and other post-Festival opportunities. Prizes include software, equipment rentals and more. While WHFF accepts many submissions from out of the region, the selection process takes into account your ability to attend the festival and to participate fully in the panel discussions and other festival and filmmaker events. Filmmakers receive assistance with housing placement through our home-stay program, All Access passes and complimentary tickets.

Additionally, with more than 80% of filmmakers in attendance, Woods Hole is a wonderful and vibrant event for both new filmmakers and alumni. The Film & Science Initiative, launching two productions in 2020, makes the Woods Hole Film Festival an essential stop on the Festival circuit.
