Papers & Panels

Papers and panels may be scholarly or pedagogical in orientation and are scheduled in 1 hour and 45 minute (105 minute) long sessions, with 3-4 presenters per session. Each person is typically allotted 20 minutes to speak, and discussion is held until the end of the session to ensure that all panelists have adequate time to present their work. Proposals related to all areas of film and media are encouraged.

All paper and panel proposals are subject to peer review. Members interested in serving as reviewers are encouraged to contact the Papers & Panels Co-Chairs: Wago Kreider and Mary Beth Woodson.

Eligibility

  • Only active UFVA members can submit. To renew your membership or join visit: UFVA membership

  • UFVA members are limited to two (2) submissions total in all conference categories (Films, Scripts, Papers & Panels, New Media, and Workshops), not including responses.

  • Members submitting papers/panels MUST attend the conference for their papers/panels to be scheduled.

  • Paper proposals may be submitted individually or as part of a pre-constituted panel. Individual papers will be programmed in panels.

  • All paper and panel proposals are subject to peer review.

Submission Requirements

  • Title, brief description (400 characters max) and full abstract (2500 characters max) of the paper.

  • List of minimum five (5) sources.

  • For pre-constituted panels only: above information for all papers and panelists.

Submission Deadline

Final submission deadline is March 20, 2020.
